My first time here but it was excellent! I had the roast pork dinner with 3 sides. I selected black beans, white rice and salad. They bring a nice portion of fried plantains and a delicious chicken and noodle soup while I waited for my meal. The service was very attentive and I will be back soon!
So this was my first time dining here and my was it wonderful, the food, staff, music, and drinks. Also who ever makes that soup, it tastes so good and I honestly have never had something absolutely amazing. The plantains really went well with it too, my server was amazing & I will be back again ☺️✨
The food, service, and atmosphere are awesome! Had the roast pork mofongo, and it was like I was sitting in Puerto Rico! It is a must try here! The only disappointment was the fried sweet plantains. They were not nearly as sweet as I'm used to, as how most all places serve those. Won't be getting those again.
The Tres leches cake was good, a little too heavy on the carmel. The key lime pie was very good.
My first time having latin food, It was absolutely delicious! I had the roast pork mofongo with yellow rice and sweet plantains! The staff was amazing! They answered all questions that I had about menu items! I will definitely go again when in the area!
Let me start by saying I saw the reviews and was impressed by them so I told my wife let’s go eat there and see what’s this place is all about? Google directions was spot on but it is hidden. You have to really look to find the place. List of parking space.
The restaurant is big inside with lots of space to dine in. Full bar, and a stage for live music, major plus in my book!
Big turn off for me was the Flies inside the restaurant, in the dining area, by the bar, and mens restroom which by the was was not clean. My wife reported women’s restroom was clean, so I got the impression my wife was signaling men are filthy lol! Complementary platano chips with warm authentic chicken soup.
The menu has many choices to pick from
like Burgers and sandwiches,
Appetizers and Caribbean Appetizers
Salads, Soups, Sea Foods
Are server was Maria, she was friendly and professional. I was impressed by more women working the establishment then men, lol! I would have given this place a 5 star review, but here were my takeaways. 1. No Octopus Salad, 2. Flies, flies, and more flies. Usually flies can be an indicator of lack of cleanliness. Overall expect to pay for two somewhere around $30-$50, without tip. Would I comeback to this restaurant again? Yes! Hopefully no more flies….lol
Friends this is an update review as of 12/09/2023, the establishment has improved, better services, food is still amazing, prices are affordable, and more staff, professional, friendly, and customer obsessed. I encourage everyone if you haven’t tried this place, do yourself a favor come down and try it.
First visit
Difficult communications due to a far too loud big band had us changing tables once a waitress finally did appear..which caused us to miss happy hour prices by a minute and they didn't budge!! Service was slow since our waitress also doubled as bartender while chatting w/employees who sat or stood about.
Overall- food was very, very good, portions quite ample.
Prices on point.
I'll return for the food, maybe take out or go before that big band begins! Love music but not enjoyable if you have to hold your ears while trying to eat and converse with waitstaff and your dinner mates!
Atmosphere & decor is totally lacking w/overly bright lights!! Had issues finding this place.
My second visit was very different w very attentive waitresses. Yes plural! I'll bump service up a star !
Again, a table of four who were pretty satisfied with their meal. Except for one person who ordered Churasco and was surprised that it was cut into small pieces to fit into the pilon. Not to his fancy.
The complimentary Pollo Asopa/ chicken soup was very good!! Saturday early evening, no band till 9pm. Perfect to be able to talk to your dinner guest. Will check out the band another time!
Latin Quarters has easily become a household favorite for us. Anytime we’re in Sarasota we find ourselves frequenting this restaurant for their very tasty home-cooked meals. These are meals that feel like your mom or grandma is cooking them. They have daily lunch specials for a very reasonable price. I’m hungry just thinking about it right now. 😁 Guess I’ll head over and get my fix… Lol. 😂 This is a great homestyle restaurant with awesome hospitality and very good food. I’d highly recommend it and you won’t regret it. 🏆
Im from Puerto Rico and my friend and I were very excited to eat here, we both missed our mofongo! We had a wonderful time, the staff all was bilingual and spoke to us in Spanish (we were very happy) and the food was excellent, the mofongo was HUGE! Definitely enough for 2 people. I highly recommend eating here 🩷
Gracias Latin Quarter!
